What Is Paint or Hunt?
Paint or Hunt is a hide-and-seek game built around camouflage. Hide from the hunters or move around to find the hiders in the arena before time's up.
Inspired by Meccha Chameleon, you are assigned either the Hider or Hunter role, and each side has a different mission. The Hider needs to disappear into the map by studying the surroundings, choosing a suitable position, selecting a convincing pose, and painting themselves to match the environment. The Hunter arrives later and needs to identify anything that appears out of place. Whistles provide an important audio clue, helping direct the Hunter's attention toward possible hiding locations. This creates an interesting balance between visual deception and careful investigation.
Your roles in Paint Or Hunt
How the Hider Role Works
Being a Hider is not simply about finding the darkest or most hidden corner of the map. Your surroundings are the most important part of your strategy. Before choosing a position, study the environment carefully. Look for areas where your appearance can naturally fit into the map. The more convincing your pose and paint are, the harder it may be for the Hunter to notice you. A good hiding position should make sense visually. If your appearance does not match the surrounding objects, the Hunter may notice the difference even when your actual location is difficult to reach. You therefore need to think like someone trying to disappear rather than someone simply trying to hide.
How the Hunter Role Works
The Hunter has the opposite mission. Instead of trying to blend into the map, you need to examine it for anything suspicious. The environment may contain many visual details, so rushing through the map can make it easier to overlook a disguised Hider. Whistles can help guide your search. Following their sound gives you an additional clue when deciding which areas deserve closer inspection. However, hearing a whistle does not mean you should immediately assume you have found the Hider. Use the sound as a reason to investigate the surrounding environment carefully. Look for things that appear unusual, especially objects whose shape, color, or position does not seem natural.

Explore Seven Different Maps in Paint Or Hunt
Like Chameleon Hide And Seek, this game also features many maps. You can play on seven maps, giving you different environments in which to practice camouflage and investigation. Each map can change how you approach the two roles. A Hider needs to understand which parts of the environment offer good camouflage opportunities, while a Hunter needs to learn what normal surroundings look like. The more familiar you become with a map, the easier it can be to recognize unusual details.
Playable game modes in Paint Or Hunt
Paint or Hunt supports different ways to play. You can participate in Online Mode, where one person uses each device, or play locally in 2 Player Mode. This flexibility makes the game suitable for different situations.
Play Online With One Device Per Person
Online Mode allows you to play with each person using their own device. This setup works naturally for a competitive hide-and-seek experience because each participant can focus on their assigned role. The Hider can concentrate on finding the right camouflage opportunity, while the Hunter can focus on investigating the map. The separate-device format also keeps each side focused on its own responsibilities during the match.
Try Local 2 Player Mode
If you want a more direct setup, the local 2 Player Mode provides another option. Two people can compete in the same game environment without relying on the same type of online setup. Switching roles can also make local matches more interesting because you get to experience both sides of the challenge. A round as the Hider teaches you how difficult it is to create convincing camouflage. A round as the Hunter shows you how challenging it can be to distinguish a disguised character from the environment.
