Among Us is an addictive multiplayer game with five game modes. Work with your crew, uncover suspicious actions, or master deception as an Impostor.
Two roles in Among Us
Like Meccha Chameleon, this game also allows you to transform into two roles.
The Imposter
Becoming an Impostor completely changes your objective. Instead of helping the crew complete the mission, you must sabotage their progress and eliminate Crewmates without being discovered. This requires more than simply attacking whenever you get an opportunity. A successful Impostor needs to think about what happens before and after an elimination. Your movements, timing, explanations, and behavior during meetings can all influence whether other players suspect you.
Faking Tasks and Creating Alibis
One of the most important Impostor techniques is pretending to be a Crewmate. You can stand near task locations and act as though you are completing assignments. The purpose is to make your movements appear normal and reduce suspicion. However, simply standing in a room is not necessarily enough. You also need to consider whether your behavior matches what other players expect from a Crewmate. Creating an alibi can also help. If someone sees you in one location at an important moment, that observation may become useful during an emergency meeting. The stronger your explanation for where you were, the harder it can be for others to connect you with an elimination.
Sabotaging Systems
Impostors can sabotage important systems, including lights and oxygen. Sabotage changes the priorities of the Crewmates and can force them to move toward a specific location. This creates opportunities for an Impostor to manipulate the flow of the round. Sabotage can also create confusion. When everyone suddenly needs to respond to an emergency, it becomes more difficult to track individual movements. The key is knowing when disruption makes sense. Sabotage should fit the situation rather than appear completely random.
Using Vents
Vents provide Impostors with a fast way to move between certain areas. This can be extremely useful because it allows you to reposition quickly after an action or reach another part of the map without following normal routes. However, vents also carry significant risk. If someone sees you enter or exit one, your role can become obvious. That means you should consider who might be nearby before using this movement option.
The Crewmate
If you become a Crewmate in Among Us, your responsibilities are almost the opposite of an Impostor's. You need to complete your assigned tasks while trying to determine which members of the group are secretly sabotaging the mission. Your objective can be achieved by finishing the required tasks or successfully identifying and voting out the Impostor.
Completing Tasks Efficiently
Tasks are your primary responsibility as a Crewmate. Moving around the map efficiently can help you make steady progress while also giving you opportunities to observe other players. However, rushing from one task to another without paying attention can leave you vulnerable. Try to stay aware of who enters or leaves nearby rooms. If something suspicious happens, remembering those details can become important during a meeting. Task completion and investigation should therefore happen together.
Reporting Bodies and Calling Meetings
If you discover a dead body, you can report it and trigger a discussion. You can also call an emergency meeting when you believe there is a reason to discuss suspicious behavior. Meetings are where information becomes arguments, explanations, and votes. You may need to describe where you were, who you saw, and what happened before the report. Good communication matters because a useful observation can help the group identify inconsistencies in someone's story.
How to control
- WASD/ Arrow Keys = Move.
- Spacebar/ E key = Use items.
- Q key = Attack enemies.
- R key = Report body.
Exploring the Among Us Maps
Like Build Royale, this game also features various maps.
The Skeld
The Skeld is the original Among Us map and remains one of its most recognizable environments. It is designed like a spaceship and contains several familiar locations, including MedBay, Electrical, and Security. Because of its straightforward spaceship layout, The Skeld is an accessible environment for learning the basic principles of navigation, observation, and emergency response. You can become familiar with the relationship between different rooms and use that knowledge to understand how quickly someone could travel from one area to another.
MIRA HQ
MIRA HQ takes the action into a futuristic headquarters. Compared with The Skeld, this map is smaller and presents a different arrangement of areas and tasks. Its unique task locations include activities such as garbage disposal and card swiping. The smaller environment can change how you think about movement and encounters. When distances are shorter, unexpected meetings can happen more frequently. That makes awareness particularly valuable.
Polus
Polus takes place on a snowy planet and provides a much larger environment than The Skeld and MIRA HQ. The map includes outdoor areas as well as more complex task locations. Notable locations include specimen rooms and a greenhouse. The larger setting creates more space for movement and can make it harder to keep track of everyone at once. If you are trying to understand an unexplained elimination on Polus, remembering routes and nearby locations can be especially important.
The Airship
The Airship introduces a multi-level environment that changes how you navigate the game. You can move through locations such as the kitchen, cargo bay, and engine room while dealing with the added complexity of multiple levels. The vertical structure gives the map a different feel from the more traditional layouts. You need to pay attention not only to where someone is but also to how they could have reached that location.
The Fungle
The Fungle combines jungle-inspired surroundings with futuristic technology. Its distinctive setting separates it visually from the spaceship, headquarters, snowy planet, and airship environments found on other maps. For you, the different atmosphere also means another environment to learn. Understanding its layout can help you navigate tasks and make better sense of encounters during a round.
Strategies for winning Among Us
Good Among Us strategy is mostly about adapting to the information available to you. There is no single sequence of actions that guarantees success because the hidden-role structure means other people constantly change the situation.
If You Are a Crewmate
Focus on three things: tasks, awareness, and communication. Complete your assignments, but do not ignore what is happening around you. If you notice unusual behavior, remember it. When a meeting occurs, provide specific information rather than making accusations without context. Your location, timing, and observations can all help the group build a clearer picture of what happened. Most importantly, work with the information other people provide. One person's observation may not be enough, but several independent details can reveal an inconsistency.
If You Are an Impostor
Your biggest challenge is appearing natural. Avoid behavior that immediately separates you from the group. Use task locations to create believable movements, think carefully about when to sabotage, and consider the consequences of every elimination. During discussions, consistency matters. If your explanation does not match the available information, other players may notice. The goal is not simply to convince everyone that you are innocent. You also need to avoid giving the group enough information to connect your actions to the larger sequence of events.
