Two roles in Monkey Tag IO
Like Meccha Chameleon, this game also gives you a choice between two distinct roles.
Play as an infected monkey
When you select the infected monkey role, your job is to spread infection through the map. Your main goal is to hunt down normal monkeys and tag them before they can escape. To succeed as the infected monkey, you should use your speed and pursuit instincts to stay close to normal monkeys. Plan your routes instead of chasing randomly, since trees and obstacles can slow down your progress. Moreover, tagging one monkey can quickly shift the match in your favor. Stay focused on targets rather than getting distracted by survivors who may try to lead you into safer areas. If you tag enough normal monkeys, you increase your chances of turning the tide and winning the match.
Play as a normal monkey
When you choose the normal monkey role, you are fighting to survive. Your job is to avoid infection and keep yourself and your teammates safe for as long as possible. To succeed as a normal monkey, you should run when you need distance, especially when an infected monkey is closing in. Climb on trees to break line-of-sight and make tagging harder. Watch your surroundings and don't stay in one place too long. Infected monkeys can adapt quickly. Use movement and elevation to stay unpredictable and escape pursuit. Trust smart timing: sometimes the safest decision is to regroup and reposition rather than sprinting blindly.

Various maps in Monkey Tag IO
This game offers a variety of maps, and each one changes the look of the battlefield as well as the way you should play. As you level up and progress, new environments become available, so your strategies may need to adapt from match to match
- Beach: This map will be unlocked once you reach Level 10. This area is packed with coconut trees, lighthouses, and plenty of open spaces where movement and timing are important. Because the terrain includes many natural hiding spots, normal monkeys can use the environment to survive longer, while infected monkeys may need to be more careful with their routes to avoid getting slowed down.
- Fortress: This map will be unlocked when you reach level 5. It is a more structured and crowded area, filled with boxes, buildings, and trees. In this map, tight corners and obstacles can create quick escapes
- Bomb Tag: In this map, you must collect as many leaves as possible and escape from the monkey carrying a bomb. In contrast, if you carry a bomb, you must chase after other monkeys to tag them.
- Forest: This map is made entirely of trees, creating an environment where hiding, climbing, and navigating through branches can make a huge difference. Trees give players more ways to break line-of-sight and escape pursuit, so both infected and normal monkeys will need to pay attention to vertical movement and routes through the canopy.
The store in Monkey Tag IO
You can visit the store from the hub and use your coins to purchase new monkey skins. Skins let you customize how your monkey looks, and they make it more fun to experiment with your style as you keep leveling up and earning rewards.
